Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011

CAT is a computer-based test (CBT) in which a candidate reads the questions on a computer terminal and chooses an answer by clicking on the correct option. The total duration of CAT 2011 will be two hours and thirty-five minutes including a 15 minute tutorial session to be provided before the start of the test and the actual examination which will be of 140 minutes duration Educational Qualification :A candidate who has either secured or is likely to secure a first class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a first class Master’s degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) or a first class Master’s degree in Economics or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) is eligible for admission. Selection will be based on application rating, performance in CAT for domestic students and GMAT for international students, and candidate’s performance in group discussion and personal interview. Post-qualification work experience in industrial organizations will be given due consideration. The School follows Government of India norms regarding eligibility and reservation of seats for qualified Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates, Other Backward Classes and Persons with Disability.

5 Years Integrated MBA Admissions 2011-2012

BIT offers a 5 year (10 Semester) Integrated MBA Programme for all eligible Class XII pass-outs aspiring for a career in the field of business management. This programme will be offered at BIT Lalpur (Ranchi City), Kolkata, Noida, Jaipur & Allahabad Centres from the session 2011-12.

On the successful completion of the 5-year Programme, the students will be awarded the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree. The students who want to acquire only an undergraduate qualification, will have an option of getting a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree on successful completion of 3-years of this Programme. This option will have to be exercised at the end of the second year of study.

 Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must have 60 % (50% for SC/ST) marks in Class 10 (average of required subjects). Candidates must have 60 % (50% for SC/ST) marks (average of 4 subjects as indicated below) in Class 12 / QE (Equivalent Qualifying Examination). Candidates must have 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in English Percentage of marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of English + best 3 other required subjects.

Notes:The maximum age limit for admission is 21 years (26 years for SC/ST candidates) as on 1 Oct 2011.Candidates who have appeared for final examinations of QE in 2011 and whose results are not yet declared, can also apply.

Admission Procedure :
Candidates are advised to follow the rules for admission to First Year Engineering degree courses as published by the Directorate of Technical Education, Jharkhand State from time to time. However some of the basic guidelines are given below. All the candidates are advised to submit their applications to the Admission Authorities notified by the Government of Jharkhand on or before the last date of application, unless specified differently elsewhere in this brochure.
Entry requirement for the First Year of Engineering

Passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Jharkhand State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks (45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks for backward class category candidates from Jharkhand) in the Subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
