(Overview) Review of JMET- 2006

Review of JMET - 2006

Reasoning

This section comprised logical reasoning (31 questions) and verbal reasoning (9 questions). Most of the questions of logical reasoning could have been solved quickly by elimination methods. Easy questions of deductive logic added to this party. A sound ability to discern the relatively easy questions would have allowed you to make 25+ attempts. An increased emphasis on logical reasoning, as compared to last year, was evident.

While a score of 17+ would have been a good one for this section, the cut-off would be in the range of 10-12 marks.

Quantitative Ability

This section displayed a slight deviation from the JMET trend with an increased number of questions from higher mathematics. Selecting the right questions again would have made a huge difference to the number of attempts as well as the expected accuracy levels. As compared to last year, the number of questions based on Modern Math and Advanced Math reduced drastically from 24 to 7, while those based on Arithmetic and Geometry increased from 10 to 29.

Data Interpretation

This section comprised of questions based on tables, bar charts, line graphs and spider graph. The 4 questions based on the spider graph involved only simple calculations and could have easily been solved simply through close observation. The question sets based on bar charts (6) and line graphs (6) were also relatively simple. These questions should have been definitely attempted. Overall the questions pertaining to combined charts (table+ graphs) in this section made it time consuming and not many questions could be attempted keeping in mind a time frame proportional to the number of questions in the section.
