SNAP 2010 Analysis

SNAP 2010 question paper was very much on the expected lines only. Like SNAP 2009, there were 150 questions in the test divided into four sections. Each question was followed by four options. Incorrect answers attracted a penalty of 25% of the marks allotted to the question. The overall difficulty level of the test was almost the same as that of SNAP 2009. The section-wise break-up of the test is given below.

Section 1: General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability
40 marks: 40 Questions (1 mark each)

The section was quite simple. Apart from 6 questions based on idioms, 2 ambiguous RC questions and 2 questions based on proverbs rest of all were either easy or very easy. An adequately prepared student should have scored 28-30 marks in less than 25 minutes.

Section 2: Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency
40 marks: 40 Questions (1 mark each)

Around 4-5 questions in the section had some error, ambiguity or incomplete information. The DI set based on bar-chart was quite tough and it was very difficult to figure out the answer of 3 out of the 4 questions using eye estimation. 25 marks could have been scored in 35 minutes easily.

Section 3: General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario
40 marks: 40 Questions (1 mark each)

The section had a good mix of current affairs (17 questions) and static GK. Certain questions were very tricky and a score of 18-20 would be considered very good.

Section 4: Analytical & Logical Reasoning
60 marks: 30 questions (2 marks each)

This section was the most scoring and one could easily have scored 40 marks in 40 minutes. In the absence of sectional cut-offs and profile based calls, the overall cut-off may go up slightly this year. The cut- ff for getting a call from SIBM Pune and SCMHRD should be around 110-115 and 103-108 marks respectively.
