You can register for CAT 2016 from the official CAT 2016 website, www.iimcat.ac.in between August 8th 2016 and 5:00 p.m. on September 22nd, 2016. Registration steps are as follows:

  • Create a Profile
  • Log in with system generated User ID and Password
  • Submit Application after entering details and making online payment

On creating a profile, your User ID will be sent by email and the Password shall be sent to the registered mobile number. Overseas candidates receive both User ID & Password on the registered email address. Using these credentials, you can log in as an Existing User to fill out the Application form. You need not complete the application in a single session. You can login multiple times to complete. You cannot edit any details on the Application form after you have made the online payment. However, after you submit the application, there will be a limited time window during which you can modify very limited details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, Programmes Selected etc. You will not be able to modify any of the following: any details entered in the Personal Details section, any details entered in the Academics section except the percentage marks scored, Exam Centre City Preferences. You can only view and print after this. Details are available on the application submission page.

How to Apply:

  • Visit xatonline.net.in click on Register, create a new account with your personal email id, you will receive a unique XAT ID and registration link.
  • Click on the link and create your own password. (Next time you will be allowed to login with this XAT ID and password).
  • Select the Test City, write Name, upload photo and signature and save it.
  • Select your Citizenship (Indian/ Foreign / NRI).
  • If you are interested to apply for XLRI, select the programme of your choice Business Management (BM)/Human Resource Management (HRM)/General Management Programme (GMP). Candidates not interested in any of the XLRI programmes can skip this step.
  • Fill preliminary information (Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Category and Phone Number etc….)
  • Provide your mailing address and permanent address.
  • Provide your educational qualification starting from 10th onwards.
  • Provide details of work experience starting from the latest job. Candidates desirous of applying to GMP must have total experience of five years till March 31, 2017.

About Exam:

XAT 2017 will be conducted on Sunday 8th January 2017. XLRI conducts XAT on behalf of the XAMI. For more than 60 years XLRI is conducting XAT at all India level to select the most appropriate students for management education. The XAT score is being used by more than 100 institutes for the admission.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India.

Eligibility Criteria:

The aspirants applying for the test must meet the following eligibility criteria:

i) They must have a graduation degree passed in any discipline.

ii) The candidates pursuing their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply.

iii) There is no age limit prescribed.

iv) Work experience is also not necessarily required.

Mode of Test:

Candidate can choose any ONE of the two options to take the test:

  • i) Paper Based Test
  • ii) Computer Based Test

Syllabus:

Before applying for any exam, the candidates must be familiar with the syllabus. If the candidates are familiar with the syllabus and the pattern then, preparing and cracking the exam will be a lot easier. The syllabus for MAT September 2016 includes 5 sections of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and each correct answer contains will add +5 marks. There is a total of 5 sections and every section has 40 questions each. The various sections are as follows:

Post Graduate Programmes in Managment:

Eligibility

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PWD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal / Registrar of their University/institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.

Candidates applying for CAT 2016 should fulfill any one of the following conditions:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks*
  • Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with required percentage*.
  • Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage*.
